What We Believe

Faithful Five stands in the historic Christian tradition. We confess the faith of the ancient church and embrace the theological insights of the Protestant Reformation. We are warm to the spiritual riches found across the whole Christian family — from contemplative prayer to charismatic witness, from Catholic liturgy to evangelical proclamation.

The Apostles' Creed

I believe in God the Father Almighty, maker of heaven and earth.

And in Jesus Christ His only Son our Lord; who was conceived by the Holy Ghost, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, dead, and buried; He descended into hell; the third day He rose again from the dead; He ascended into heaven, and sitteth on the right hand of God the Father Almighty; from thence He shall come to judge both the quick and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Ghost; the holy Catholic Church; the communion of saints; the forgiveness of sins; the resurrection of the body; and the life everlasting. Amen.

The Five Solas

We are shaped by the five theological convictions of the Protestant Reformation:

Sola Scriptura — Scripture alone. The Bible is the final authority for faith and practice.

Sola Fide — Faith alone. We are justified by faith in Jesus Christ, not by our works.

Sola Gratia — Grace alone. Salvation is entirely a gift of God's grace, not earned or deserved.

Solus Christus — Christ alone. Jesus is the sole mediator between God and humanity, the fulfillment of all Scripture, and our only hope.

Soli Deo Gloria — To God alone be glory. Everything we do points to God's glory and worship.

The Four Streams

The Christian tradition flows from four great sources, and we draw from all of them:

The Roots (Catholic and Orthodox Christianity) teach us liturgy, the communion of saints, and sacramental presence.

The Stem (Mainline and Evangelical Christianity) ground us in Scripture, doctrinal clarity, and the call to transformation.

The Branches (Pentecostal and Charismatic Christianity) awaken us to the power and gifts of the Holy Spirit and passionate encounter with God.

The Leaves (Contemplative and Mystical Christianity) invite us into silence, prayer, and the presence of God beyond words.

Faithful Five draws nourishment from all four streams, seeking to be neither narrow nor shallow in our faith.
